Japanese company seeks an Accounting & Administration Assistant. Responsible for: all general accounting duties including inventory reconciliation, expense, A/P, A/R, etc; administrative support; and others as assigned by assistant manager. Ideal candidate has: Problem solving skills, interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills. Must be dependable, responsible, motivated, professional, multitasking, and a team player. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: - Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions. - Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases. - Audits invoices against requisition forms, researches discrepancies, ensures approvals and posts them. - Investigates problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payment for bills. - Computes and records charges, refunds, cost of lost or damaged goods, freight charges, rentals, and similar items. - Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy. - Reconciles general ledger accounts with various registers. - Extracts general ledger information. - Files various accounting documents. - Researches and processes customer claims of invoice payment. - Answers accounts receivable and accounts payable phone inquiries and follows up. - Calls and/or e-mails correspondence to customers and vendors as necessary in order to update accounts. - Assists with related special projects, as required. - Reconciles report discrepancies and problems. - Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures. - Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and makes corrections. - Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services. - Supports general office administration tasks such as answering phones, office organization and maintenance, office supply/equipment maintenance. - Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS : Education and/or Experience: BS degree in Accounting or Finance and at least 2 years work experience in accounting field required. Knowledge and/or experience in accounting in manufacturer is huge plus. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Compute r Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of AS400 or other similar Accounting software; Microsoft Excel (spreadsheet software) and Microsoft Word (word processing software). 10 key by touch, Typing 40wpm.
